Loyd Uglow BA’76 and Sparky Sparks BA’77, two UT Dallas School of Arts and Humanities (A&H) alums, share their memories of campus life in the late ’70s.

The first bachelor’s degree ever awarded by UT Dallas was a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature, presented to Mrs. Catherine Carpenter during the May 1976 Commencement at University Theatre. This ceremony marked the university’s first graduating class of 23 seniors.
