The SP/N Gallery at UT Dallas is hosting a live and virtual art exhibition paying homage to the arts influence of Dr. Rick Brettell, former professor at UT Dallas. Brettell also founded the UT Dallas Edith O’Donnell Institute for Art History. Exhibition: BRETTELL An Artist’s Homage to the Dynamic Influence of Rick Brettell, is available for public viewing at the UT Dallas SP/N Gallery and also online. The exhibition serves the dual purpose of bearing witness to Dr. Richard Brettell’s personal art acquisitions as well as giving recognition to his lifelong pursuit of providing opportunities supporting the role of ‘the artist’ which he found essential to interpreting—if not defining—the evolving culture of a society. This recognition is demonstrated by an eclectic sampling of art works by some of the many artists who found their way into his personal sphere of influence and support, most often in a mutually shared friendship.
