Issue 10 | December 2020: Wright Releases New Book

Dr. Ben Wright

Dr. Ben Wright, assistant professor of history in the School of Arts and Humanities, is preparing to release a new book about how religion structured the possibilities and limitations of American abolitionism during the early years of the republic. The book, Bonds of Salvation: How Christianity Inspired and Limited American Abolitionism, will be available December 16. In the book, Wright discusses the social and religious divides that culminated in secession and civil war. His analysis reveals that visions of salvation both created and almost destroyed the American nation.
