John Pomara, professor of visual arts in the School of Arts and Humanities, is displaying his latest work, Digital Debris, at the Barry Whistler Gallery in Dallas. The exhibit runs October 14 to November 21. The gallery is currently open by appointment only.
Digital Debris features a collection of new oil enamel paintings on aluminum, unique UV pigment ink on canvas pieces and a vinyl site-specific 34-foot mural installation in the foyer of the gallery, viewable from both inside and outside the gallery. Pomara said his work over the past two decades has been influenced by media culture and computer technology. “The proliferation of pictures bombards us daily at a speeding rate. Advances in technology have led to an ever-increasing access to digital imaging, creating a major cultural shift in altering the way we see, think, and feel,” he said.
