The School of Arts and Humanities is presenting the classic Greek play, “Oedipus the King.” The show will be live-streamed April 15-17 at 8 p.m. and April 22-24 at 8 p.m. “Oedipus the King” is a tragedy by the ancient Greek playwright Sophocles, first performed in about 429 BCE. It was the second of Sophocles’ three Theban plays to be produced, but it comes first in the internal chronology (followed by “Oedipus at Colonus” and “Antigone”). Directed by Michael Cleveland, the play follows the story of King Oedipus of Thebes as he discovers that he has unknowingly killed his father, Laius, and married his mother, Jocasta. Due to Covid-19, the performers will be masked and the play will be live-streamed on the Arts and Humanities YouTube channel.
