The School of Arts and Humanities joins the UT Dallas community in mourning the death of Dr. Hobson Wildenthal, a major force in garnering support for the school and its programs. “While Dr. Wildenthal was a physics professor, he had a deep affinity for the humanities and the arts,” said Dr. Nils Roemer, interim dean of the School of Arts and Humanities and director of the Ackerman Center for Holocaust studies. “He also was instrumental in raising support so that a small Holocaust studies program could grow into the Ackerman Center — one of the most important such centers in the world.” Roemer said Wildenthal’s continuing support is the reason that a music performance building is a key element of the university’s capital campaign, Momentum.
