Who we are
The UTD Pep Band brings energy and school spirit to athletic events, campus celebrations, and performances in the greater Dallas area. One of the most visible performance ensembles on campus, the band plays at men’s and women’s home basketball games, women’s home volleyball games, and for National Night Out, Scholars’ Day, and Homecoming.
Participants enjoy the ensemble’s creativity and camaraderie without the extensive time commitment often associated with high school band. The Pep Band schedule is designed each semester so that members can balance their passion for music with academic success.
Participation Information
UT Dallas undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff with ensemble experience on the following instruments are welcome to join: piccolo, flute, clarinet, alto sax, tenor sax, baritone sax, trumpet, French horn (marching French horn), trombone, bass trombone, euphonium/baritone (marching baritone), tuba (sousaphone), bass guitar, and drum set.

- Rehearsals: Thursdays, 7:00–9:00 p.m. in PHY 1.304
- To Join: Fill out the interest form and enroll in MUSI 2113.
If you want to continue playing your instrument in college or if you’ve stopped and want to start again, the UTD Pep Band is the perfect ensemble for you!
Audition Information
Wind and Brass: No audition required for membership.
Bass Guitar and Drum Set: Email pepband@utdallas.edu or call 972-883-6007 to set up an audition. Bass guitarists and drummers must be able to read music.

2025 Pep Band Camp
August 21-22, 9:00 – 4:00, in PHY. Lunch will be provided both days.
Camp time is spent rehearsing most of our music for the semester so that 1) the band is ready to perform for campus and athletic events at the start of classes and 2) we can back off some on rehearsals in October and November, when academic demands tend to pick up. Additionally, the camp provides a great opportunity for students to get to know fellow Comets who share a common interest before classes even start.
