Athenaeum Review - Spring 2018: Explore emergence with UT Dallas faculty and gain insights on Jessica Baldivieso's exhibition.

The Athenaeum Review, a publication by The Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, & Technology at UT Dallas and The Edith O’Donnell Institute of Art History, is back with its ninth issue.

This edition delves into the concept of emergence with UT Dallas faculty members Dr. Roger F. Malina, Professor Emeritus Frederick Turner, and geoscientist Dr. Robert J. Stern. Plus, gain valuable perspectives on Jessica Baldivieso’s solo exhibition, “Here, And On My Way,” through the keen analysis of Lorraine Tady, clinical associate professor of visual arts.

Inside are James Elkins on the unambitious contemporary novel, Maryann Corbett’s translations of Christine de Pizan, Lydia Pyne on ochre, and Alberto Martinez and Tom Palaima on Einstein’s World War I.

Here too are Meaghan Emery on Africa rising, Daniel Ross Goodman on Armageddon Time, Diane Purkiss on democracy, David Carrier and Brian Allen on artistic biographies, and Daniel Asia and Nathan Jones on American classical music.

The issue also contains a folio featuring beautiful works of art by William Atkinson, Rosalyn Bodycomb, Sean Cairns, Susie Phillips, Carroll Swenson-Roberts, and Keer Tanchak.

Take the chance to engage with critical discussions on essays, insightful reviews, and captivating interviews by leading scholars in the arts and humanities.
