Vocal Music and the UT Dallas Choirs

Study Vocal Music

Whether students are seeking a BA, a music minor, or music electives, we offer many vocal courses at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Studying vocal music is more than learning to sing, it’s an opportunity to understand music’s role in expression and communication. Through our vocal courses, students can build a skillset that enriches both their personal and professional lives.

Vocal Ensembles

Performing in a choir goes beyond producing music. It offers a sense of community, creative expression, and skill-building that extends to any career path. We have two distinct vocal ensembles on campus: the University Choir (MUSI 3127), open to all students regardless of musical expertise, and the Chamber Singers (MUSI 4185), an auditioned, mixed choir. Both ensembles offer opportunities for artistic growth, camaraderie, and memorable performances that build confidence and communication skills. Our ensembles have performed in Germany, Spain, Poland, and even at Carnegie Hall and national choral music conferences.

Chamber Singers

The UT Dallas Chamber Singers is the premier vocal ensemble on campus. This is an auditioned SATB (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) choir composed of outstanding undergraduate singers across all academic majors. For more information or to audition, contact Director Jonathan Palant, Associate Dean of the Arts and Director of Choral Activities.

UT Dallas University Choir

Open to all UT Dallas students of any major, the University Choir performs a rich and diverse repertoire of music from the Renaissance to contemporary period, including musical theatre, romantic, gospel, classical, and world music genres. For more information, contact Director Jonathan Palant, Associate Dean of the Arts and Director of Choral Activities.
