Guidelines for the Youth Competition

Application Deadline: February 20, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.

The Competition: March 8, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The Youth Competition is open to 18 years and under (or high school and under) and takes place on the UTD campus in a location disclosed to competitors and their parents. The Youth Competition is not open to the public.

Youth competitors are automatically enrolled in our Ensemble Workshop, which will be held in the afternoon, after the Youth Competition. Youth competitors will perform Saturday evening as a “pre-concert” before the headlining concert. The workshop welcomes all performers, and youth competitors will have time to socialize during the workshop. Guardians are required to maintain custody of students during the workshop.

Our Youth Competition is chaired by Eddie Healy, Vanessa Corder, and Dan Hodan.

Note: The University of Texas at Dallas will not take custodial responsibility of minors while participating in the Annual Texas Guitar Competition and Festival. Custodial responsibility will remain with teachers K-12, parents, legal guardians, and chaperones.
