NEW DIMENSIONS

THE CAMPAIGN FOR UT DALLAS

Shaping the Next Generation

The Bass School is a community of scholars, artists, and creative practitioners defined by their creativity, critical thinking, communication, and cross-cultural understanding. We cultivate skills in critical study and creative practice and foster the generation of new knowledge and new technological experiences.

The school was created to address the needs of a new generation of artists, performers and scholars. The Bass School brought together the School of Arts and Humanities and the School of Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communication, aspiring to be an eminent hub for the study and practice in the arts, humanities and design of emerging technologies. The Bass School’s academic programs are grounded in the vital questions of the humanities. Combining the arts and humanities with technology opens new paths of inquiry, creativity, and innovation. Our students learn to cultivate a deep understanding of different cultures and cultural differences — historically, geographically and artistically. Our academic programs uphold the highest standards of excellence within each discipline and encourage transdisciplinary collaboration and creative practice that bring original solutions to novel challenges. Students who study here work side by side with distinguished and award-winning faculty who rank among the most accomplished scholars and practitioners in the fields of animation and games, critical media studies, emerging media, history and philosophy, literature and languages, and visual and performing arts.

Access to our internationally renowned interdisciplinary research centers, labs, studios, galleries, and collections allow for the sharing of insights, ideas, and best practices. This rich array of opportunities broadens and enhances the student experience. Situated in the heart of the dynamic Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, the Bass School provides students with access to a dynamic art and culture scene.
