Dallas advertising and public relations legacy-makers Barbara and Stan Levenson donated their jazz collection to The Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, & Technology at UT Dallas.

The Bass School receives nearly 3,000 pieces encompassing albums, tapes, CDs, DVDs, books, memoirs, and biographies meant to inspire generations of music students for decades.

Barbara and Stan are two soulmates bound by a shared passion for greatness and gratitude. Through their agency, Levenson, Levenson & Hill, Inc., they achieved remarkable business success, forever shaping the landscape of advertising and public relations in D-FW.

They’ve championed diverse causes in higher education, among other areas, solidifying the Levenson name as a true embodiment of community spirit in UTD and beyond.

Our music faculty is diligently cataloging the pieces, preparing them for our campus community to enjoy and engage.

The Bass School celebrated the Levensons’ donation and Stan’s 90th birthday with a performance by the UT Dallas Jazz Ensemble – directed by Kelly Durbin – at the Jonsson Performance Hall on Dec. 6.

The Jazz Collector

Stan’s diverse roles include being a family man, PR icon, army man, and record salesman and promoter.

Born to a violinist mother, his deep love for music has been a lifelong passion. His interest in jazz blossomed during high school in the late 1940s, discovering a Manhattan radio station from his home in Miami. Since college, this fascination has evolved into a cherished hobby of collecting jazz, a pursuit he continues to this day.
