UTDance’s Spring Showcase Lights Up University Theater

Dancers in gold dresses perform on stage during the Spring 2024 Dance Collections concert by UTDance Ensemble and other collaborators.

The UTDance Ensemble, in collaboration with the Collective Arts Center Performance Company and the Dallas College Dance Department at Brookhaven Campus, presented 12 original works during its Spring 2024 Dance Collections concert from March 7 to March 9.

Led by Micki Saba, associate professor of instruction at The Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, & Technology at UT Dallas, UTDance Ensemble is an audition-based collective of 13 UT Dallas student dancers and choreographers enrolled in dance performance courses.

The ensemble presents two concerts at University Theatre each year and participates in dance performances at both on- and off-campus events every semester. The Spring concert included an excerpt from “The New Women,” a piece choreographed by Kaitlyn Weirich, a senior majoring in visual and performing arts and history. This performance is a component of Weirich’s Capstone project, an advanced creative or research project of their choosing based on their focus within the program.

The multitalented performers represent various academic disciplines and artistic backgrounds, from visual and performing arts students to business and geology majors. This semester’s lineup features Hannah Bahram, Sarah Boutouis, Camille Coopwood, Saanvi Dusa, Joseth Holman, Grace Kohl, Corinne Johnson, Sofia Muñoz, Katy Nuckels, Victoria Omagbon, Leia Sing, Kaitlyn Weirich, and Maria Williams.
