Drawing

The drawing courses at The University of Texas at Dallas are designed to include a range of investigative explorations into the various disciplines of drawing. The initial foundation course focuses on the fundamental principles of academic drawing, which include observation translation, rules of perspective, methodologies of application and spatial organization. The advanced drawing courses address topics such as figure drawing, conceptual expressions, medium and image manipulation and stylistic development. Our students obtain a thorough understanding of the practice of drawing and its history as they develop on to more individual contemporary adaptations.

Our fundamental philosophy is to treat drawing as a language – a tool for communication. Drawing is both an art form and a primary ingredient in the development of the visual dialogue. Whether operating autonomously or incorporated into works containing multiple mediums, the art of drawing is playing a dynamic role in the contemporary art world.
