Communication Studies
Communication Studies incorporates theories, concepts and skills of oral, visual and mediated communication. It teaches students how to engage in critical thinking and problem solving, to participate effectively in meetings and in teams and to communicate competently in relationships and in public speaking contexts.
Critical Media Studies
Faculty in Critical Media Studies have expertise in disability studies, media theory, queer media, maker culture, critical play, education, global media, race and ethnicity, eco media, and popular culture.
Design & Creative Practice
Design and Creative Practice offers students coursework in digital arts areas such as digital fabrication, projection mapping, new media art and performance, sound, time-based media, and video.
History & Philosophy
Widely diverse in backgrounds and interests, the History and Philosophy faculty frequently employ approaches that mesh the several disciplines of the Bass School as classes explore specific academic areas from a broad, scholarly perspective.
Humanities
Humanities students have the flexibility to design their course of study, collaborating with faculty in all areas of the Bass School. Graduates from the doctoral program in the Humanities go on to pursue academic careers and futures in education, public service, nonprofit management, the arts, and more.

Latin American Studies
An integrated global economy, along with the rapidly changing demographics of the U.S. domestic market, make expertise in Latin American studies an asset to students in numerous fields.
Visual & Performing Arts
Students pursue an interdisciplinary study of the arts by selecting among courses in historical context, studio practice, performance ensemble, and ideas and interpretation of the arts.
